Leander police are looking for two teenage girls who went missing after a party at a nightclub in southeast Austin on Saturday night.
The two 16-year-olds, Melanie Benefield and Kaitlyn Eaves, had attended an all-ages party at Emo’s East on East Riverside Drive on Saturday night. They were dropped off at 9 p.m., but were nowhere to be found when Benefield’s parents returned to pick them up at 2:00 a.m.
Police said the girls had been in communication with their parents via text message during the party, but their parents haven’t heard from them since.
A Leander Police Department spokesperson said the girls aren’t believed to be in immediate danger, but officers want to make sure they are found and get home safe as soon as possible.
